Immediately after treatment
- 1Stay out of the home for 2–4 hours, or until all treated surfaces are completely dry to the touch
- 2When you return, open windows and doors to ventilate the home for 15–30 minutes
- 3Wipe down food preparation surfaces — benches, dining tables, stovetops — with a damp cloth
- 4Wash any utensils or food containers that were left uncovered during treatment
- 5Keep children and pets away from treated skirting boards and external walls for 24 hours
The first week
You may see increased pest activity for the first 1–2 weeks after treatment. This is normal and expected — pests are being flushed from their harbourage areas and the treatment is working. You may also see dead pests around the home; simply sweep or vacuum them up.
- Don't mop or clean treated skirting boards, window reveals or external walls for at least 7 days — the residual product needs time to work
- Normal cleaning of floors, benches and food areas is fine
- Don't remove spider webs for 7 days — the dust on the webs continues to work
- Avoid using fly spray or other insecticides — they can interfere with the professional treatment
- Keep an eye on pest activity — note where and when you see pests
Ongoing maintenance
A general pest treatment provides protection for months, but it's not permanent. How long it lasts depends on weather, pest pressure and the condition of your home. To extend the effectiveness of your treatment:
- 1Maintain good sanitation — clean kitchens, manage rubbish, store food in sealed containers
- 2Address moisture issues — fix leaks, improve ventilation, reduce humidity
- 3Seal any new gaps or entry points that appear
- 4Keep vegetation trimmed away from the house
- 5Remove timber-on-ground and clear weep holes
- 6Book your next treatment before the current one expires — don't wait for pests to return
When to call for a follow-up
Follow-up treatments are $165 per attendance if active infestations require additional treatments to interrupt the breeding cycle. If you're still seeing cockroaches, ants or spiders after 2 weeks, call us to arrange a follow-up. The follow-up treatment targets any surviving pests and addresses areas that may have been missed.
If you're on a pest management plan, your annual treatment is backed by priority emergency call-outs ($110 per attendance) if pests return between visits. If you're not on a plan, book your next treatment in 6–12 months depending on pest pressure — don't wait until you have a visible infestation.
