Before the technician arrives
A little preparation ensures your treatment is as effective as possible. You'll receive preparation instructions when you book, but here's the summary:
- 1Clear items away from skirting boards where possible — the technician needs access to spray along the base of walls
- 2Cover or remove food from benches
- 3Ensure the subfloor and roof void are accessible — unlock access points
- 4Secure pets — dogs, cats and other animals should be kept away from treatment areas
- 5Close windows and doors during and immediately after treatment
- 6Plan to stay out of the home for the recommended period after treatment (usually 2–4 hours until surfaces are dry)
On arrival
Your technician will arrive in a branded vehicle, in uniform and with professional equipment. They'll introduce themselves, confirm the service you've booked, and ask about any specific pest concerns or problem areas. This is your opportunity to point out where you've been seeing pests.
The treatment process
A general pest treatment typically takes 45–90 minutes depending on the size of the property and the scope of treatment. Here's what happens:
- 1External inspection — the technician walks around the property identifying pest activity, entry points and problem areas
- 2External treatment — residual spray to external walls, eaves, window reveals, weep holes and garden edges; removal of spider webs; treatment of wasp nests if present
- 3Internal treatment — residual spray to skirting boards, window reveals and door frames; gel bait application in kitchens and bathrooms; crack and crevice treatment
- 4Roof void — dust treatment for spiders, wasps and general insects (if access is available)
- 5Subfloor — treatment if accessible and included in the service scope
- 6Documentation — the technician records the products used, areas treated and any recommendations
After the treatment
The technician will brief you on what was done, any findings, and what to expect over the coming days. You may see increased pest activity for 1–2 weeks after treatment as pests are flushed from harbourage areas — this is normal and means the treatment is working. Dead pests may be visible; simply sweep or vacuum them up.
- Stay off treated surfaces until they're completely dry — usually 2–4 hours
- Avoid mopping or cleaning treated areas (skirting boards, eaves) for at least 7 days to allow the residual to work
- Ventilate the home by opening windows once surfaces are dry
- Keep pets away from treated areas until dry
- If you see pests returning after 2 weeks, call to arrange a follow-up treatment ($165 per attendance)
